Disease: Acquired rubella (German measles) Congenital rubella syndrome (Embryopathia rubeolosa)

Symptoms: Exanthem, fever, nausea, exanthem, lymphadenopathy. Cardiovascular lesions, eye defects, hearing impairment, CNS involvement and others Complications: Spontaneous abortion and premature birth.

Mechanism of Infection: Person-to-Person transmission: Virus is spread by direct contact with respiratory secretions. Transplacental infection
