Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay intended for the qualitative detection of IgG antibodies against Ascaris lumbricoides in human serum or plasma (citrate, heparin).
Disease: Ascariosis
Symptoms: Adult worms cause no symptoms in general. Conglomerates of worms can cause abdominal pain and ileus. Infection of gall, stomach or pancreas leads to corresponding symptoms. Migrating larvae are able to cause pulmonal symptoms like cough and dyspnea.
Mechanism of Infection: Ingestion of infectious Ascaridae eggs (classical way of infestation is the consumption of insufficient washed salad)
