Disease: Pertussis whooping cough
Symptoms:
1. Stadium catarrhale: symptoms of a cold with slight fever (1-2 weeks)
2. Stadium convulsivum: severe, spasmodic coughing; after deep inspiration follows a coughing staccato (2-6 weeks)
3. Stadium decrementi: Ease of disease with symptoms of a bronchitis (up to 6 weeks)
Mechanism of Infection: Highly contagious droplet infection
